Editorial Reviews
From Booklist
Kay Green, wife of the late Stanley Green, offers a long overdue update of this important title, previously authored by her and her husband. The volume features entries for newer musicals, such as The Lion King (1997) and Spamalot (2005), as well as important revivals of classic musicals, such as Annie Get Your Gun (1999). Entries focus on the New York run of each musical, listing specific information for that production including cast members, producers, opening dates, number of performances, composers, lyricists, book authors, synopsis, major songs, and other historical details. The book also includes useful indexes of directors, lyricists, major cast members, and show titles.

Broadway Musicals Show by Show: Sixth Edition
Broadway Musicals Show by Show has long had a reputation as a comprehensive reference book on Broadway. It has never been simply a listing of each and every show that opened each year on Broadway, but rather, as explained in the Preface, included are those shows that Stanley Green, and later Kay Green, felt were memorable and should be mentioned.
"Broadway Musicals Show by Show is perhaps a misleading title as by no means every Broadway show is to be found between the covers; merely an annual selection of those Stanley thought, to use his own words, were "memorable" in each year. To have produced a fully comprehensive study of the subject would have resulted in a work whose very size would have rendered it indigestible to the average reader. As it is Stanley has distilled each year to its essence and produced a readable and informative work that fits neatly into anyone's book shelves."
From the Preface by Ian MacBey
Broadway Musicals - Show by Show - 6th edition
Broadway Musicals Show by Show: Sixth EditionExcellent book, containing very interesting facts and figures, reviews, casts, runs,& theatres played. This edition includes upto Young Frankstein. Very handy for revealing obscure facts about the shows. It has (and still is) very helpful in my selection of shows to add to my Musicals CD collection.
Missing 2004
I have an earlier version of this book that I love so was very excited to see the update. The problem is that it's missing a lot of musicals from 2004 -- Assassins, The Boy from Oz, Caroline or Change. At first I thought perhaps I was missing a page, but I checked the index for performers in those shows and they weren't listed.
I'm returning this edition and I'll wait for the seventh.
